In her new role as President of NorthStar, Rosella will oversee the staffing and operations of NorthStar Owners Representation and is responsible for quality control for all of the firm’s projects, in addition to leading projects in our not-for-profit practice – NorthStar Museums and Education.
Who Is Rosella Harvey?
Her curiosity and love for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry stems from her childhood. Growing up in West Virginia, Rosella excelled in math at an early age and competed in male-dominated math competitions. As President of the math club in High School, she focused on pushing girls to excel in math and growing female participation. She worked to change girls’ perception of the subject and transform math participation into something that was “cool” versus an anomaly.
Contributions to NorthStar
In her previous role as Principal, she served as both Project Executive and Principal-in-Charge on all of NorthStar’s projects including 2+ million SF of charter school work. She leads the Senior Living practice, Sustainability practice, and NorthStar Museums and Education with expertise gained from her 25+ years in the industry, as well as with her training to become a Registered Architect (Pennsylvania) and LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional). Her uncompromising passion and commitment to her clients and the community has always been her priority. In her new role as President, she will continue the NorthStar practice of embedding ourselves in our clients’ mission and vision.
At NorthStar alone, she has supported 75+ projects, many of which aim to uplift underserved, inner-city youth, including the revitalization of Smith Playground in South Philadelphia, construction of Paine’s Park on the Ben Franklin Parkway, and the expansion and renovation of Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse.
Rosella’s Influence
Only 9% of the Commercial Real Estate industry is female and Rosella has always sought to combat this statistic. With this progressive objective, Rosella has played a significant part in creating NorthStar’s diverse team composition to promote women. Her efforts have resulted in a team comprised of 50% female Project Managers and an overall staff which is 65% female/racial minorities – all an industry rarity. In fact, of the firm’s 3 Principals, 2 are women. As she exemplifies her natural role as a leader and well-respected woman in a male-dominated profession, she has paved the way for others to follow and mentors the women within the firm.
Rosella regularly promotes and mentors women across generations within the design and construction fields, not only by leading by example, but as a dutifully involved member of organizations including A/C/E mentoring where she has acted as both volunteer and mentor.
Recognition and Awards
Rosella’s most recent awards include being named as one of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Take the Lead award recipients and honorees for her dedicated philanthropy and support of the promotion of girls as confident leaders. She has also earned the titles of Woman of Influence (Real Estate Forum – a national recognition); Emerging Leader Award Recipient (Forum of Executive Women); and 20 Under 40 Award Recipient (Commercial Real Estate Women).

“Rosella is a massive part of NorthStar’s history and an equally important reason why we’ve achieved this level of success. It has been amazing to witness Rosella’s exponential growth from Project Manager – when she joined us over 15 years ago – to company shareholder and President. The expertise she always brings to our team of Principals, mindful approach to our clients and their projects, and the inspiration and light-heartedness to the rest of the NorthStar team are invaluable.” – Ron Street, Managing Director and Principal, NorthStar Owners Representation
